Yesterday marked the conclusion of the first ever kiteboard course racing world championship. After countless hours of work translating sailing rules to fit the kite racing style, building specialized boards to go high upwind and deep downwind, and gathering the best sailors from around the world, the St. Francis Yacht Club put on a great event. The beach at Crissy Field was covered with kites and spectators.

First ever kiteboard course racing world championship
Sunday, August 9th, 2009Friday night windsurfing race
Saturday, June 13th, 2009Last night featured some powered-up racing at StFYC’s Friday night series. There were some pretty serious gusts making their way down the course. One created some problems for a couple of the sailors below. As the gust hit you could see their boards being lifted right off the water as they struggled to hang on. No crashes here though. Everyone was able to keep things under control and make it through the race.

Spring Dinghy regatta
Sunday, March 15th, 2009Today was the last day of the Spring Dinghy regatta at St. Francis Yacht Club. There was a huge fleet of 505s, some 29ers, some small trimarans, and a few other dinghys. The breeze was from the southwest so the windward mark was set just off the breakwall near the yacht club. The offshore winds divided the fleet with some boats going up the right side of the course and some up the left.
