The Blue Angels were in town for the annual Fleet Week festival to honor our troops. They put on a great show to the delight of the people who had gathered all around the bay to watch. Thanks to Kelly for inviting me up to her rooftop to watch the show - a great vantage point.

Saturday, October 11th, 2008Behind the scenes zoo tour
Sunday, October 28th, 2007Yesterday, a friend who works at the San Francisco Zoo took me on a behind-the-scenes tour of the zoo. We really lucked out on the weather too - sunny and warm instead of the usual cold and foggy. There was a Halloween event going on the zoo with lots of kids in costumes and decorations everywhere. A lot of the animals were getting special treats too.We saw all the regular stuff like bears, rhinos, and penguins. But the exciting part was getting to go places most zoo visitors never see. We met up with the marsupial keeper and got to go into the koala house to meet and pet the koalas.
Then we headed over to the giraffe house where we got to go in with the zoo’s baby giraffe who is 2 months old. He was a little hesitant at first of having new people in his space but then warmed right up to us and nearly put nose prints on my camera lens a couple times. Then we got to feed bananas to the adult giraffes. What an awesome experience. Thanks Kelly!
Evening session at Crissy Field
Tuesday, September 18th, 2007I looked at the weather report and it said the wind was blowing 27mph at Crissy so I grabbed my camera gear and headed down. The sun was already pretty low in the sky but there were still at least 20 sailors out. I was able to get about 100 pictures before the sun went down. Lots of good jibes and cool freestyle tricks.
Check out the photos.

Thursday, September 13th, 2007The Rolex Big Boat Series Regatta is starting tomorrow at the St. Francis Yacht Club and runs through Sunday. I’m planning to head down on Saturday and Sunday to get some photos. It looks like there are more than 100 boats expected. I’m looking forward to seeing how fast the Melges 32’s are in the SF Bay conditions. For now, check out photos of past events…
